Common Size Guide for Pitched Slates

To assist in choosing the right pitched slate size, here are typical recommendations for twin-wall flue systems:

• 5-inch twin wall flue → 190mm diameter roof slate
• 6-inch twin wall flue → 220mm diameter roof slate
• Typical sizes for 110mm soil pipes require 115mm lead slate

Important: Always check the external diameter of your pipe. The roof slate must have an internal spigot diameter greater than the external diameter of your pipe for proper fitting.

1. Determine Pipe Type: Is it a stove flue, boiler vent, or soil/ventilation pipe?
2. Measure External Diameter: Use a tape measure to find the external diameter of the pipe where it will pass through the roof.
3. Match to Slate Size:
   • Ensure the roof slate’s internal spigot diameter is larger than the pipe’s external diameter.
   • Select the correct pitch angle of your roof in 5° increments (e.g., 25°, 30°, 35°).
