To prevent water ingress and damage you need to cover the intersections of the chimney where it meets the tiles or slate and install a damp proof course (DPC). A correctly installed chimney flashing will prevent rain from seeping into the roof and should last for decades if correctly installed. A minimum of code 4 lead should be used for lead chimney flashings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.leadworx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Attachment-1-1-1024x725.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Types of chimney flashing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The types of chimney flashings are front aprons, side flashings, back gutters, cover flashings and ridge abutment saddles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leadworx.com\/ie\/product-category\/chimney-flashings\/\">https:\/\/www.leadworx.com\/ie\/product-category\/chimney-flashings\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chimney<\/strong> <strong>DPC Tray (Damp proof course)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A DPC tray is used to stop water that has already penetrated through soaking into the brickwork below. Our DPC chimney tray is coated with bitumen paint on the upper surface to help protect the lead from possible corrosion caused by cement in direct contact with its surface. It is fitted during the construction of the chimney and acts as a barrier to water seeping through the brickwork<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.leadworx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/DPC-Chimney-Tray-800x600-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chimney Front Apron<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A front apron is designed to form a water proof bridge between the sides, front and back of the chimney. They come in full or half sizes and can be fitted overlapping, left or right handed, or to flash a chimney on a gable end where the excess can be trimmed and folded to suit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.leadworx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Front-Apron-800x600-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chimney Back Gutter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A chimney back gutter covers the rear section of the chimney allowing water to flow from the tiles and around the chimney without seeping into the joins.
